Hierbei lässt sich das Rastermaß frei definieren. Die automatische Zählfunktion ermittelt die Anzahl aller erkannten Objekte und bietet darüber hinaus die Möglichkeit, sich überlagernde Objekte getrennt zu zählen. Diese Trennung kann über die Objektform, der Objektfläche und über die Objektintensität erfolgen. Das Rasterschnittpunktzählverfahren dient zur indirekten Objektanzahlbestimmung.
